Sports Huddle July 26th, 2006

On the Sports Huddle today we had Danny Hope, the head football coach at Eastern Kentucky University. What do you think about Eastern being the early favorites to win their conference?

Kyle Macy also joined us around 6:00 to let us know what he thought about the Fifth Third Tennis Tournament and his thoughts about other things Kentucky.

Chuck Arnold joined us to give us the legal perspective on the Barry Bonds situation. Chris believes this will be the biggest sports story of our lifetimes; do you agree? What are your thoughts on Barry Bonds?

Mike Schmaltz from the Kentucky Speedway joined us to weigh in on Danica Patrick staying in an Indy Car instead of making the move to NASCAR. Do you think she made the right decision? What would you have done in her shoes?

Leave your comments on these questions or anything else you feel like talking about!

Is there anything else going on in sports that you wished we had talked about or did you want to comment on something different? Well leave a comment and maybe we'll spark a conversation on the air based on what you had to say!

The Reds have been put in an interesting situation. They can't afford to get rid of any more of their bats, yet their pitching still needs work. The general consensus is that it was a dumb move to trade Austin Kearns for two mediocre middle relief pitchers. I cannot agree more. There is also more disappointment with the fact that Bronson Arroyo started off the season strong but has faded recently.
If you traded away Freel who's batting .305 with an OBP of .393 you'd be taking away another bat and a guy who is going to get himself on base 2 out of every 5 times he reaches the plate.
I believe that the Reds still have the tools to make it to the postseason; it's just going to be interesting to see how it plays out.
