Our UK basketball pre/post game show will now be for EVERY GAME!

Join Jim Tirey, Ryan Lemond, and myself every game night for one hour before the game and for one hour after the game for a show that's centered around YOU the listener.

You'll hear our take on things, but we want to know what you have to think. This is the show where you can call in and be part of the show! Call 381-1313 or hit #1300 on your T-Moble Wireless Phone to get on the show.

We will be broadcasting from our downtown studio tonight for a pre/post game as UK takes on the University of Tennessee Chattanooga. We'll then be there Saturday for the game against Indiana.

I'm not crazy about John Clay's paint by the numbers approach to sportswriting but he did have a fair point today. Before we decide to write off Louisville as a no-fly- zone for central Kentuckians, maybe we try offering a better brand of basketball. Sportstalkers yesterday blamed Pitino, Petrino and El nino, for the 11,641 fans at Freedom hall Tuesday night. Not a bad figure for a Legends game or a cockfight, but a little light for the men's team. These people are missing the bigger picture. There's still 12,000 people in this state that actually want to see Kentucky play Tennessee Chattanooga!!!! Really, nothing better to do? Don't they know UPN is showing Family Matters re-runs or something. Heck, some of those in attendance weren't even married to the coach. A few probably even paid for their tickets. Not next year. If the Cats start off the '08 season like this and then schedule a Div.9 school midweek, they'll be giving away box seats with your third Happy Meal.

Yes, it's true that there was a time when Kentuckians would auction off their first born for the opportunity to watch the Cats do battle with the Morton Mustangs, the Southeastern Illinois VCR Repairman or the People's Republic of Yemen national team. (Anyone remember the UKIT?) But those days have come and gone and melted like the snowman. Today's Wildcat fan is angry, distrustful and not particularly impressed that Kentucky can beat a team with nine vowels on its jersey. Apparently the average fan, not unlike the average anybody else, might expect a little more for their money. Until that day comes we can expect a lot more of what Skip Carey used to refer to as "partial sell-outs."
